Hey guys, I have Lee and Hornady loading books, just curious about Sierra TMK SMK bullets in the 70 to 80 grain range for 223.
Following Sierra’s introduction of Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullets, Bryan Litz of Applied Ballistics LLC has received many requests to determine the Ballistic Coefficient (BC) of these bullets through testing. In the 223 and especially with the long 77 grain TMK seated at 2.250” or even 2.260” most loads of Varget® and Reloder® 15 are compressed loads, sometimes heavily compressed. Sierra Bullets has LOAD DATA for these four new bullets. Sierra has enhanced a segment of the MatchKing line by adding the acetal resin tip, thus crowning the Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet line. I bought a box of factory loaded 69gr TMK's in .223 from Creedmoor Sports to try them out. I have a CZ527 in regular .223 Rem.

I'd like to learn what loads work for you guys. Hi all, I've recently purchased some Sierra 77 TMK's to run in my suppressed T3. Looking for powders, if anyone could … (1:9 twist) I reckon up near 70 gr will be the limit of what it will stabilize. Like Like. I shot this 10rd group off a bipod and rear bag prone out of a Savage Model 12 FCV 1-9 twist. Bullets, Compete, Defend, Rifle. About the only issues with it is the coarseness of the extruded powder makes it hard to run through a progressive compared to popular ball powders like Tac and 335 (though those are more for lighter, mass produced plinker/practice loads). This puts a great deal of pressure on the bullet through the seating stem. . Having said that, GGG have started loading the 69rg Sierra BTHP which I would be keen to try as a target round. I just ordered a couple of boxes of 69 and 77 gr Sierra TMK .224 cal bullets for my AR's, has anyone had any experience with these bullets and if so what kind of powder have you used.
Sierra manual even says as much in the 223 section as posted a few above. I do alot of reloading of the .223, and have loaded the 77 otm, 77 tmk. I have some A2230,W 748, Blc-2 , CFE 223, H 335 and Benchmark on hand, I will be loading these bullets to 5.56 performcance levels.
